Healing Developmental Attachment Wounds For A More Connected Midwifery

This session will discuss how developmental trauma among birth professionals creates an environment where marginalization, racism, gender discrimination, bullying, poor interpersonal boundaries, and other relational problems can exists in relational systems within the field of midwifery. We will discuss the four primary attachment styles plus disorganized attachment subtypes, and examine how developmental attachment trauma impacts our ability to adapt our view points and belief systems in a relational context that lead to marginalization and discrimination among midwives. We will discuss strategies for healing developmental trauma within ourselves and within the birth profession as a whole,  to allow for the space of new information and perspective that will allow for productive discussions surrounding difficult issues that lead to adaptive conflict resolution.
