Jane Gerlach, CNM, MS is a practicing midwife since 1981 (University of Utah) and has practiced for the last 11 years in a full scope rural midwifery group in downeast Maine. She has taught Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) since 2010, over 28 classes, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2009 in her community, as well as prenatal yoga. She has been part of the MBCP faculty since 2015. She has also worked as Director of Clinical Services for Family Planning. She is interested in the effect of mindfulness and MBCP on the challenges that effect young families with socio-economic disparities, in the impact of mindfulness practice on the increasing number of women diagnosed with anxiety disorders, and in the support mindfulness practices can offer health care practitioners in an ever changing political and social environment.
